Colonel Harland Saunders was born in Henryville in 1890. Following a very poor upbringing and attempting to hold down a number of jobs, he opened his first Kentucky fried chicken franchise in Utah in 1952. For years he carried the secret of the spice mixture in his head and the ingredients in containers his car.
